Fabrics Are Our Passion

Founded and led by Timotheus and Karin Kultschytzky, TKTextil offers a powerful portfolio of high-quality, certified fabrics at an outstanding price-performance ratio. With decades of industry experience and a global sourcing network, we provide a constantly updated selection of woven and knitted textiles - primarily from European origins - for both wholesale and individual customers. Our promise: reliable quality, sustainable sourcing, and exceptional service.

A Fabric Legacy Since 1949

In 1949, just one year after Germany’s currency reform, textile merchant Georg Kultschytzky founded his fabric business in Stuttgart. With a background in law and forestry, he quickly transformed the company throughout the 1950s, building his own version of the Wirtschaftswunder - Germany’s post-war economic miracle. In the early years after World War II, the customer base mainly included local tailors, seamstresses, and private individuals.

By 1953, the growing fabric inventory already filled 12 garages. By the mid-1950s, the business had evolved into a nationwide fabric wholesaler. New wholesale locations were opened in Düsseldorf and Mönchengladbach, from where fashion manufacturers across North Rhine-Westphalia were supplied. Throughout the 1960s, a dedicated team of sales representatives - including family members - served TKTextil’s growing customer base across Germany.

To Be Continued...

A Tradition of Fabric, A Vision for the FutureBy the early 1980s, our original wholesale warehouses had outgrown their capacity. In 1981, TKTextil expanded into a new state-of-the-art logistics facility in Mönchengladbach - marking a turning point in our journey. Just four years later, in 1985, the second generation under Timotheus Kultschytzky boldly stepped onto the international stage, beginning with the Swiss market.
The fall of the Iron Curtain brought new opportunities - and new challenges. As one of the first fabric wholesalers to recognize this historic shift, Timotheus opened the Polish market and soon expanded further into Eastern Europe. By the mid-1990s, our representatives were active across Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and the former Soviet states. To this day, Russia and Ukraine remain key markets for TKTextil.

Our Vision for the Future...

Over time, our reach continued to grow — with the Middle East, Japan, and Scandinavia becoming essential partners in our global fabric network. In parallel with international growth, TKTextil became a trusted supplier to major German department stores. By the late 1980s, we had established ourselves as a primary fabric provider for Hertie, Karstadt, and Kaufhof. In 2006, with continued success, our Mönchengladbach facility reached its limits once more - prompting a move to a larger site in nearby Viersen.

There, a modern 2,000 m² high-bay warehouse ensures fast and efficient shipping of more than 20,000 fabric types. Today, TKTextil holds several million meters of fabric in stock - ready to ship worldwide. In September 2024, the company entered a new chapter: in a smooth generational transition, leadership passed to textile entrepreneurs Ulrich Hesse and Dr. Christian Tietz. Timotheus Kultschytzky remains closely connected to the company as a strategic advisor - a testament to the spirit of continuity and innovation that defines TKTextil.
